Through a partnership with the Upstate South Carolina Geocaches Association (USCGA) several geotrails have been and are being developed throughout Spartanburg County. There are two geotrails available now. The Heritage Geotrail was the first geotrail to the upcountry and is a series of geocaches that takes participants on a historical tour of Spartanburg County. Participants will visit various locations significant to the heritage of the county. Each registered geocacher that finds 16 of the 20 caches, logs his or her finds at geocaching.com, and submits a fully completed Spartanburg County Heritage Geotrail Worksheet to LEAF Outdoor Recreation will receive a limited edition, trackable geocoin while supplies last.
The Geocaching the Pacolet Trail is a trail around the area where the Pacolet River flows through this small but historic corner of Spartanburg County. Each registered geocacher that finds 12 of the 16 caches, logs his or her finds at geocaching.com and submits a fully completed Geocaching the Pacolet Trail Worksheet to the Town of Pacolet will receive a limited edition, trackable geocoin while supplies last.
The Pacolet forms can also be turned in at the Pacolet Library, 390 W. Main St, Pacolet, SC 29372.
